Thoughts for Tuesday Mornings

Thoughts for Tuesday Mornings

I can often get revved up thinking about doing God’s will. I love long range thinking and the big picture. But, then Monday comes around and getting the practical done starts to slow me down. By Tuesday morning often my zest has settled back into whatever normal was before.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe that seeing the big picture and having a vision for your life is very important. But, you gotta go to work. Responsibilities take time. Maintenance isn’t glamorous.

Paul writes this in Colossians 3:
Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ. — Colossians 3:23-24 (CSB)

After we’ve reoriented our lives around the things of God, put him first and pushed aside the sin that entangles we’ve got to go to work. Does that mean that all of our effort to change is wasted? Nope. We just need to continue to follow God as we take care of our responsibilities.

After all, singing to God on Sunday morning, spending an hour in prayer and reading your Bible are spiritual things to do but other activities can be spiritual too. Changing a diaper, getting to work on time and mowing your lawn can be done in faith with an attitude that honors God.

Don’t get fooled into thinking that the only way to please God is by doing super spiritual work. God wants all of our lives to be based around him. We can enjoy all that he has made, the work that he has for us and even the responsibilities he puts before us.

So, as you go about your week – whatever you do, do it for the Lord, serving him.
