Genesis 40-41: The Bigger Picture

At times we are tempted to wish we were in someone else’s position in life. However, the Lord has placed each of us in a set of unique situations that culminate in accomplishing his will for our lives. This week we look at Genesis, chapters 40 and 41 to see how the trials that Joseph endured helped grow him in his ability to accomplish God’s will.

Genesis 39: The Prospering Servant

Joseph was prospered by God because he realized that in any and every circumstance he was doing the work that his extremely generous master had given him to do. Sometimes God puts us in difficult situations and expects us to faithfully follow His lead. This week we see in Genesis, chapter 39 how Jospeh responds to the difficult situation God has allowed him to go through.

1 Thessalonians 2:13-20

Like a seed needs water to grow, we need God’s Word to permeate our hearts and bring life to our souls as we face persecution together with other believers.  This week we look at what Paul writes in the second half of 1 Thessalonians, chapter 2 about soaking up God’s Word, believing the Bible is true and suffering for the Lord.

1 Peter 4:7 – 5:14

From a worldly perspective suffering is seen as a negative thing but we as believers can rest assured that suffering is a blessing from God used to strengthen our faith in Him.  As we wrap up our study on 1 Peter, we see that we can rely on the hope that we have in Christ and our fellowship with other believers to carry us through trials and to encourage us as we look forward to Christ’s return.
